Montréal Voice Competition
Age groups: 12-14 years, 15-17 years, 18-20 years, and 21-23 years
Singers will be marked on technique, tone, expression and presentation. We welcome competitors to perform Canadian composed or self-composed music for their entries. While not mandatory, it’s a terrific way to expose your talents! The voice competition will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Columba-by-the-lake Church, 11 Rodney Ave. in Pointe-Claire H9R 4L8 between 9:00am and 3:00pm (each participant will be notified at what time they will be performing, closer to the date). Finalists will be chosen from each of the four music categories and age groups.
All finalists will be invited to sing at the Festival de la voix’s closing concert on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 7pm entitled Festival de la voix’s New Voices Concert.

Contest Adjudicators
Marc Boucher
The Canadian Baritone has had an active career performing in operas, symphony concerts and recitals across Canada and around the world. In addition to being an award-winning recitalist, Marc Boucher is the CEO and Artistic director of Festival Classica, a successful classical music festival on Montreal’s South Shore. We are pleased to have Marc adjudicate the Classical and Music Theatre categories.
A second adjudicator will be announced shortly.
Competition Rules:
Participants must be 12 to 23 years of age as of February 21, 2015. Proof of age is required on the date of the competition.
o First place winner: 10 hours of studio time.
o Second place winner: 6 hours of studio time.
o Third place winner: 4 hours of studio time.
o The concert will be held at Beaurepaire United Church, 25 Fieldfare, Beaconsfield (Qc), H9H 4W4.
o All finalists are strongly encouraged to perform at this concert, though it is not mandatory.
o The finalists are asked to provide their own musical collaborator for the concert.
o The finalists and winners of the competition will be formally acknowledged and presented during the concert.
Musical Collaborators (Accompanists)
The following collaborators are available as accompanists. Fees are not included in the cost of registration and are of the responsibility of the participant.

- Participants can register for 1 or more categories.
- All participants must have a live accompanist or be self-accompanied. No recordings are allowed.
- All pieces must be performed by memory.
- All participants must bring a copy of their music for the adjudicator. This will be returned to them.
- Participants are asked to stay until everyone in their category has performed and heard the comments from the adjudicator. After the comments are made, the finalist from each category and age group will be announced.
- A first place, second place and third place winner will be chosen from among the finalists. The winners will be notified at a later date.
- Winners will be awarded studio time at Montreal’s Boutique de son, as follows:
o First place winner: 10 hours of studio time.
o Second place winner: 6 hours of studio time.
o Third place winner: 4 hours of studio time.
